83% of our reservations are made online

Posted on Wednesday, July 26, 2017

It won't get any higher than this, expects Erik Kroon (owner of SOS Events in Uddel). With his Klimbos in Garderen and rental shops with special transport equipment, he started offering his services online six years ago. That as many as 83% of reservations are now made online is something he could not have imagined beforehand.

Everyone should be able to book online
Erik's vision is simple: everyone should be able to reserve their services online. Is a reservation made? Then a week before the activity takes place, the customer is sent tips via email and offered various upsell opportunities. Think combination with other activities or picnic options along the way. "Currently, we are even investigating the possibility of combining activities with an overnight stay. That would be a win-win situation for the tourist and various entrepreneurs in the area."

Booking online only provides benefits
Kroon finds that more and more companies are realizing the benefits of being bookable online. "When customers buy your services or products online, the phone rings a lot less often and you don't have to answer many emails in the evenings. You basically keep time, so you can engage in your business. And that's what it's all about! In addition, you have more certainty that the customer will actually show up, because they have paid in advance. So only benefits."

While the benefits for businesses are clear, the high percentage shows that customers also like to book activities and tickets online. Although, according to Kroon, this is partly because his customers are rewarded when they book online. For example, with a discount on the entrance fee or free coffee/tea or an ice cream. "This, of course, is not unique. Amusement parks have been using various online promotions to fill up their parks for some time now."

100% online sales are not possible, according to Kroon: "You always have customers who plan an outing on the spot or still prefer to book by phone or mail. Of course we are happy to assist them then. The only difference is that they are not offered a discount and may even have to pay money in the future for handling the reservation. In this way we also try to get the doubter to book online."

Expand your reach with the Front Office App
In addition, Kroon also offers its SOS Events offerings through the Front Office App. A unique concept where accommodation is linked to activities in order to reach the tourist together. With the Front Office App, hotels and bungalow parks can sell the services of SOS Events online to their guests: through the reception or through their own website.
